Texting Smarter, Not Harder

Texting has quickly become the way most of us keep in touch with family and friends. For many, though, those tiny letters, small keyboards, and puzzling features can make the whole thing feel more frustrating than fun. The good news is, with just a few small adjustments, texting really can be easier — and even enjoyable.
One simple change is to make the letters bigger. If you’ve ever found yourself squinting at the screen, your phone has a setting that allows you to increase the text size. On an iPhone, you’ll find it under Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size. On an Android, it’s Settings > Display > Font Size. A larger font can make reading and writing texts so much more comfortable.
Another handy option is to try “voice-to-text.” Instead of typing everything out, you can tap the little microphone that appears on your keyboard and simply speak your message. Your words will appear on the screen as you talk. While you may need to fix a word here or there, it’s a lot less work than pecking at tiny keys.
It’s also helpful to remember that texting doesn’t need to be long or formal. You can keep it short and sweet, with a simple “Thinking of you” or “Call when you can.” Your friends and family will appreciate the thought, no matter how few words you use. And if you feel like adding a little extra warmth, you can always use emojis if you want. Look for the smiley-face button on your keyboard and you’ll find plenty of choices. A 🙂 or ❤️ is often all you need.
Of course, mistakes happen. Phones sometimes “auto-correct” our words into something strange, but there’s no need to stress. Just send another quick message to clear things up, and people will understand. Don’t stress about mistakes — we’ve all been there!
✨ Safety Tip: One important note — never click on a link in a text unless you are absolutely sure who sent it. Scammers sometimes send texts that look like they’re from banks, delivery companies, or even people you know. If a message seems suspicious, it’s best to delete it. When in doubt, call the person or company directly to check.
Texting doesn’t have to be a chore. With a few small changes, you can make it work for you and enjoy another simple way to stay connected to the people who matter most.
